Bradwolff & Partners presents Ruta Butkute and Katrin Korfmann at Art Rotterdam 2020

Bradwolff & Partners is proud to present Ruta Butkute and Katrin Korfmann at Art Rotterdam 2020. Both artists relate to concepts such as space, in-between space, standstill and movement. Butkute and Korfmann are artists that exhibit on an international level. Their combined presentation allows spectators to compare the abstract and analytical aspects of their work, while also observing the concrete aspects.

With A Sequence of Actions, Ruta Butkute is exhibiting an installation of abstract sculptures and two-dimensional works which awaken a performance suggestion. With Butkute the emphasis lies on the scanning movement which focuses on the awareness of time and time’s course. She turns her practice as choreographer and performer into showing objects which appear as being able to move at any moment. Butkute approaches each object in the space where the distance to the spectator or user plays an important role. The bridging of this distance consists of actions that form the artistic process.

Katrin Korfmann’s work is located between photography, film and installation. She uses the camera as an instrument with which she researches and transforms her surroundings. In her images she creates a tension between standstill and movement in daily situations which play out in public space. Additionally, for Rotterdam Recycle Plant, Korfmann expands her images, multiples them or turns them whereby new perspectives arise and concealed aspects become visible. From these new perspectives Korfmann researches her fascination for distance between the image and spectator. Due to her analytical approach to the world around her, Rotterdam Recycle Plant delivers a critical viewpoint on how people position themselves in relation to their surroundings.

Next to our presentation at the fair, we are also participating in the first edition of The Performance Show, taking place in the industrial environment of AVL Mundo/ atelier van Lieshout with the performance Spell Action #1 by Ruta Butkute.
