live moments – postponed!

hee-seung choi and rob manthey

20 November 2021 - 20 November 2021

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to postpone the upcoming live music/sound evening event scheduled for November 20th to a later date (to be announced). Stay safe and well!

During ‘Live Moments’, Rob Manthey and Hee-Seung Choi will perform their own music and sound which is a result of playful and spontaneous exploration where materials are allowed to come together in unexpected ways.

Rob Manthey is an American composer based in the Hague. He studied music composition at Indiana and Yale universities (US), and received a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague. His work consists of music for acoustic instruments and voices as well as electronics; and his music has been heard in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. His choral music has been performed by a multiple Grammy-winning choir the Gregg Smith Singers in New York City, The Atlanta Schola Cantorum in Atlanta, Georgia, and the Orpheon San Juan Bautista in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Florence, Italy. Adjudicators for the American Composers Orchestra in New York commented “this composer understands nuance and color” about his music. In the Netherlands, his music has been performed by the Ives Ensemble, and has been heard in the Muziekgebouw aan het IJ, Theater Kikker in Utrecht among others. Rob Manthey is a BMI affiliated composer.

Hee-Seung Choi is an interdisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. She is also a classically trained musician who studied music composition at Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University (US). Since finishing her study in ArtScience at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague in 2008, she has been working in a combination of media, including video, performance, sound, and installation. Her work draws inspiration from familiar signs, routines, and arrangements found in everyday life. Her relationship with Bradwolff goes back a few years: she had her solo exhibition “Feeling of Time” in 2018.
