Bradwolff Projects presents: Feeling of Time by the interdisciplinary artist Hee-Seung Choi. This first solo exhibition in Amsterdam consists of a series of new works created specifically for the space. Using various media, Choi responds to familiar signs, routines, and arrangements in daily life, often in combination with literary references. She uses video, performance, and sound, among other elements, as components of her installations.
For Choi, time stands or falls with images and feelings, which unfold here in a narrative featuring, among other things, two films and a sculpture. She uses the triptych form in the architecture of Bradwolff Projects—a dome with symmetrical wings—and employs it as a counterweight to the absence of stability in her own sense of time.
Hee-Seung Choi (Korean-American, 1976) lives and works in Amsterdam. After her training as a classical musician (Master’s degree in Music Composition, Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University (USA)), she continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (NL). Her work has been shown internationally, including at De Balie, P/////AKT, De Nederlandsche Bank, Korzo Theater (NL), La Fleche D’or (FR), and the International Thermaikos Film Festival (GR). She was an artist in residence at Steim (NL) and Kunsthuis SYB (NL); and a finalist for the Sybren Hellinga Art Prize and the Jan Hanlo Film Essay Prize.
